Second Harvest Community Food Bank celebrated volunteers and a successful capital campaign Thursday during a luncheon at the Green Acres building Thursday.
Second Harvest raised $475,000, which topped this year's goal of $400,000.
While the financial donations are important, the Second Harvest Director Chad Higdon says this event is also to honor those who give food and time year after year.
"We recognize that there are 51,000 individuals in our service territory who have been identified as food insecure. So, even though we do have a lot to celebrate today, there is still a lot of work to be done going forward," he said.
This is the first year Second Harvest held a luncheon to honor volunteers and donors in this way.
The food bank's campaign kicked off in January.
