Sen. Roy Blunt Recognizes St. Joseph Resident for Volunteer Services

Sen. Roy Blunt recognized a local volunteer, on Thursday, for her service to helping others improve literacy skills.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Senator Roy Blunt made his way to Missouri Western State University, Thursday afternoon, for an annual literacy luncheon.

The luncheon, hosted by the St. Joseph School District, and the Western Institute at Missouri Western, honored local volunteers who have devoted their time to literacy.

Sen. Blunt awarded Deborah Ellsworth with the Roy Blunt Literacy Citation, for her commitment to helping the community develop and improve their literacy skills.

"Sen. Blunt has been an incredible inspiration for his long-term commitment to literacy, and it has just meant the world to me to have him present this today," said Ellsworth.

Ellsworth has volunteered in St. Joseph for more than decade.

The award was established in 1991 to honor Sen. Blunt's involvement in education and literacy issues.
