(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Tips helped authorities identify a man wanted for stealing from a St. Joseph church.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Department said they have identified a man pictured on surveillance footage taking lamps from Grace Evangelical Church in March.

Capt. Mark Brock said the man is in custody at the Buchanan County Jail on an unrelated charge stemming from a burglary in St. Joseph. The sheriff's department released surveillance images Thursday of the man who was accused of taking two lamps from the facility without permission.

Brock said the sheriff's office is not pursuing charges in the church theft investigation at the request of the church. But, he said, the investigation is still open at this time.

The sheriff's department did not release the man's name since he was not charged in the case.
