Snow Sends Plows Into Action, Cancels Saturday Activities

MoDOT reports that crews are plowing and treating following the second round of snow in 24 hours. Some groups have cancelled events due to the weather.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The second round of snow fell overnight across the region, creating a new round of work for road crews.

According to MoDOT, crews are plowing and treating across northwest Missouri. The traveler information map lists the major highways as snow covered at this time.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) said crews in northeast Kansas are making progress.

Kimberly Qualls shared an update on Twitter saying, "more pavement visible in last hr. Plenty of snow/sleet mix still on rds &  still falling."

Several groups cancelled events and activities for Saturday due to the wintry weather.

According to Chuck Kempf with the City of St. Joseph, the Parks and Recreation Department has cancelled all youth basketball games for Saturday. The games will be made up at a later date.

The Best Youth Sports basketball games are also cancelled for Saturday, with a make-up date pending.

The YMCA in St. Joseph plans a delayed opening. The organization will decide on a start time at 10 a.m. Saturday.
