Sporting Park a Finalist for D-II Football Championship

Kansas City's Sporting Park is one of three stadium being considered for the NCAA Division II National Championship game.
(Kansas City, Kan.) Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala. has served as the home of the NCAA Division II Football National Championship game for the last 26 years.

But that run could be in jeopardy.

The NCAA announced Wednesday that Sporting Park in Kansas City is a finalist for the Division II football title, along with Braly -- which is located in Florence, Alabama -- and a stadium in Bentonville, Ark.

Whichever stadium wins the bid will house the the game from 2014-2015 to 2017-2018.

Kansas City's push to bring the Division II championship to the Midwest is a joint effort between the MIAA and the Kansas City Sports Commission.

The NCAA will announce the championship game's location on December 11th.
