Det. Frank Till announced plans to run for the District 9 Seat in the Missouri House of Representatives.
The Republican has been with the St. Joseph Police Department for 27 years. He said a run for office is something he has been considering for a while.
"I've been thinking about it for a long time. It was the right opportunity, the right time," he said.
Till lives in rural Andrew County with his wife Carrie and their kids Frankie, 16, and Alyssa, 13.
He has been a patrol officer in St. Joseph, worked with the Drug Strike Force and currently serves as president of the Missouri Narcotics Officers Association.
Till said he plans to file the paperwork in Jefferson City later this month.
The seat he is seeking is currently held by Rep. Delus Johnson of Andrew County. Johnson recently announced plans to run for the 12th District State Senate seat.
