Firefighters took part in ice rescue training Wednesday at Missouri Western
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) While ice rescues in the area are fairly uncommon, the St. Joseph Fire Department continues to prepare its firefighters at least every other year.
Today at Missouri Western, a refresher course and first-time training included a classroom session and practical training on one of the ponds.
The department has a limited number of ice rescue suits reserved for stations closest to water, but all fire fighters in the department take part in the training.
