St. Joseph Man Arrested in Platte County, Faces Felony Charge

A man wanted for questioning on a burglary case in St. Joseph is now in custody in Platte County.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A man wanted for questioning on a burglary case in St. Joseph is now in custody in Platte County.

Officers arrested Matthew Salmons overnight after tracking a vehicle that was reported stolen out of St. Joseph. The vehicle was spotted at a Taco Bell in Platte City.

When officers tried to stop Salmons, they say he took off, initiating a pursuit. Eventually, the pursuit led to a foot chase where Salmons and another man were arrested with the help of a K-9.

Due to the extreme cold, both men were taken to the hospital. Salmons is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, a felony. He is now in jail, the other man is still in the hospital. His name has not been released.

St. Joseph police wanted to talk to Salmons and two other men about active burglary cases in St. Joseph.

One of those men, David Dunlap, spoke to police over the weekend. According to Capt. Jeff Wilson, he was released. The third man, Jack Kelley, 29, is still wanted for questioning. Contact the TIPS hotline with information at 816-238-TIPS.
