St. Joseph Woman Shares Childhood Stories, Brings Hope to Community

A St. Joseph native is speaking out about her devastating childhood, and how she recovered.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph native is speaking out about her devastating childhood, and how she recovered.

Karen Maag, creator of Reflections of Hope Ministries, shared her story to people looking for hope.

Maag calls herself a 'survivor by choice' because for years, she was told she was a bargain basement child; among many other hurtful things.

She hopes that telling people about her past will encourage them to also become a 'survivor by choice.'

"Abuse, we talked about healing, we talked about forgiveness, we talked about the promises of God, we talked about releasing. Just letting go," said Maag.
