Students Jump Rope for Heart

Hundreds of students from area elementary schools participated in this year's jump rope for heart.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Students from dozens of area schools jumped rope to raise money for the American Heart Association Monday at Missouri Western State University.

They also learned about building a healthy lifestyle.

Students KQ2 spoke with say they're just happy to help others in need.

"I am jump roping for those kids who have heart problems," says Jima Field, a 4th grade student at Hall Elementary.

Other students say it's fun to jump rope but they simply want people to be healthy.

"I want people to have a healthy heart," says Madeline Burright.

The purpose of the annual event is to promote physical activity, heart healthy living, and community service to children.
