Suspected Church Thief in Custody

A woman suspected of stealing a credit card from an area church is now in custody.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A woman suspected of stealing a credit card from an area church is now in custody.

Andrew County Sheriff Bryan Atkins says the suspect, Brenda Perry, was spotted at a convenience store in St. Joseph Saturday afternoon. The clerk recognized the woman and called St. Joseph police.

She was later arrested by St. Joseph police. Perry has since been transferred to Andrew County where she is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Perry was identified late this week from surveillance footage at the Family Worship Center in Country Club Village. Perry allegedly stole a credit card inside the church last Sunday. She is charged with burglary, theft and credit card fraud.
