(ABC News) A new study links cancer to early indoor tanning.

U.S. and Canadian researchers looked at people ages 25 to 50 who had a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma.

They found these people reported more use of indoor tanning when they were young than people without this cancer.

In fact, this study suggests that time inside a tanning bed is even worse than time spent outdoors in the sun.

Researchers say it's proof that more stringent laws discouraging teens from using tanning beds are needed.
