(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri State Highway Patrol rerouted southbound traffic on Interstate 29 near Faucett Tuesday afternoon due to a tractor trailer fire.

The patrol said a truck hauling yogurt caught fire near Faucett. A trooper at the scene suspected a mechanical problem caused the fire, but it was still under investigation early Tuesday evening.

The fire blocked traffic in the area while firefighters worked to put out the flames, but no one was hurt. The driver made it out safely.

After several hours of work, MoDOT had both southbound lanes clear and I-29 was fully reopened shortly after 11:00 P.M. Tuesday night.
