The Livingston County Sheriff's Department said Amanda Gault, 20, of Chillicothe, was arrested Wednesday on charges of sodomy or attempted sodomy.
Authorities also arrested Brent Schade, 40, of Chillicothe Wednesday.
Both face charges connected to an investigation of alleged rape, sodomy, unlawful restraint and supplying intoxicants to a minor.
The Chillicothe Police department isn't commenting on the case.
But neighbors we spoke with are and they say they're in shock.
"I definitely wouldn't let my daughter go around him anymore," says Crystal White, a neighbor who lives across the street.
They say Chillicothe Police Officer Brent Schade lived in the 300 block of Cherry with his 2 sons.
They say he seemed like a normal guy.
"I've talked to him, seen him go to work and stuff seems like a nice guy," added White.
According to court documents, a young woman told police she was given alcohol and drugged, then forced into a bedroom where she was sexually assaulted.
"No one likes to hear that obviously from any of our employees to have such a serious and heinous crime such as rape so I'm shocked by it basically," said Ike Holland, city administrator for Chillicothe.
Holland says Schade is being investigated but he has not been terminated.
"Anytime an officer is charged with something as serious crime like this obviously the city takes it very seriously," added Holland.
Schade has been with the police department for 6 years.
He's been on administrative leave without pay for a separate incident since January.
"He was interfering with a traffic accident and evidence that was gathered relating to a DUI," said Holland.
The case has created a buzz in Chillicothe - many hoping to see justice served.
"I believe it's the worst thing that can possibly happen. These people are supposed to be out here to protect and serve they're not doing their jobs if their the ones that are committing the crimes," said Shawn Myers, a Chillicothe resident.
The alleged crime reportedly happened over night Monday into Tuesday at a home in Chillicothe. Authorities say Schade and Gault are accused of acting together when the alleged crimes took place.
He and Gault remain in custody at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail. Each is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
Schade has pleaded not guilty
