A breakfast this morning at Missouri Western State University kicked off the United Way's annual campaign.
The United Way is already about a quarter of the way to the goal for the year. Campaign leaders hope to raise about $3.3 million in nine weeks.
United Way is a non-profit agency that focuses on improving education, health and financial stability in the community.
"During the next nine weeks, we hope that everybody in the community and in the area feels the call to be united and that they know that they're gift matters and they want to be a part of United Way," said United Way President Kylee Strough.
The St. Joseph United Way operates seven initiatives and supports 19 agencies. The agency hopes to reach its goal by early November.
