Doctors Advise Parents to Limit Kids' Media Use

In a Pediatrics Journal article, the doctors' group advises parents to set mealtime and bedtime curfews for media devices and to keep the devices out of children's bedrooms.
(CNN) If you think your children are spending too much time in front of a screen - cell phone, television, computer, you name it - you're not alone.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending parents manage their children's media use.

In a Pediatrics Journal article, the doctors' group advises parents to set mealtime and bedtime curfews for media devices and to keep the devices out of children's bedrooms.

The article cites a recent study that says children 8 to 10 spend nearly eight hours a day with different media.

For older kids and teens, the average is more than 11 hours a day.
