Donald L. Stout, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 20, 1934 to Ralph and Thelma (Black) Stout. He lived in St. Joseph most of his life.
Don graduated from Benton High School in 1951. He joined the United States Navy and served his country for four years. On June 29, 1958, he married Jerrie Lynn Abbott. He retired from Seitz packing company after thirty-five years of service. As a young father he enjoyed motocross riding with his sons. He was a very talented musician, artist and wood carver. He loved playing the banjo.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Jerrie; his parents; son, Jeffery; two grandsons, Michael and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory L. Stout (Janet) and Donald K.; daughter, Brenda K. Burks (Doug); brother, Ralph Jr.; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Hands of Hope Hospice.
