Driving Dominates Holiday Travel, Down Slightly from 2012

Triple A estimates nearly 90 percent - or nearly 39 million - of those traveling this year will be on the roads between Wednesday and Sunday.
(ORLANDO, Fla.) If your Thanksgiving plans include a road trip this year, it could be a crowded week on the highways.

According to Triple A, the majority of travelers plan to drive to their holiday gatherings.

Triple A estimates nearly 90 percent - or nearly 39 million - of those traveling this year will be on the roads between Wednesday and Sunday.

The busiest time for travel is expected to be Wednesday, Nov. 27, as people take off for their destinations. Sunday will be another busy time when people return home from their holiday outing.

Triple A's travel report also noted that gas prices remain at their lowest levels for Thanksgiving since 2010.
