Errors, Silent Bats Cost the Mustangs

St. Joseph falls for the first time on the road Sunday night.

(NEVADA, Mo.) A quick rebound from St. Joseph's first loss of the season eluded the Mustangs (2-2, 1-2 MINK) Sunday night. Seven errors contributed to a 15-2 loss to Nevada.

Nevada already held a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when fielding problems caught up with St. Joe.

An error by shortstop Kyle Simpson opened the door for a four run inning for the Griffons.

Nevada went on to score two in the fifth, three in the sixth and four more runs in the seventh inning.

Starting pitcher Aaron Baker allowed seven runs, only four of them earned, and 10 hits in five innings. Brent Mason and Ryan Price came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings in relief and gave up eight runs, only two of them were earned.

The Mustangs only managed four hits on the night, two of them coming from Jake Kretzer.

After scoring 18 runs in the first game of the season, St. Joe has scored seven combine runs over the previous three games, including a 13 inning marathon with Haysville.
