(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Gov. Jay Nixon will join President Obama during a visit to Ford's Kansas City Stamping Plant on Friday.

Obama is expected to highlight the plant's growth during a discussion on the nation's financial progress since 2008.

Ford announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in the Claycomo, Mo., plant after the passage of the Missouri Manufacturing Jobs Act.

Governor Nixon called a special session of the General Assembly in 2010 to pass the package of incentives geared towards attracting automotive manufacturing jobs to the state.

Since that time Ford has not only announced the facility improvements, but has also added a third shift and announced plans to hire 900 additional workers at the Claycomo plant.
