Hatchet-Wielding Bank Robber Pleads Guilty

A robber who hit a bank armed with a hatchet faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to the crime. Derek Brownlee, 35, of Kansas City, Mo., pleaded guilty robbing an Overland Park bank back in July.
(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) A robber who hit a bank armed with a hatchet faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine after pleading guilty to the crime.

Derek Brownlee, 35, of Kansas City, Mo., pleaded guilty robbing an Overland Park bank back in July.

The criminal complaint against Brownlee revealed that he jumped on a teller's counter and demanded money with a bandana on his face and a hatchet in his hand.

He got away with cash and electronics, eventually leading police on a high speed chase. Brownlee was stopped and arrested in Kansas City, Mo.

His sentencing is set for next January.
