The hospital's auxiliary works on various activities to help patients, such as the Patient Pet Pals and Healing Hearts programs.
The Patient Pet Pals program provides dogs and one cat to patients to cheer them up.
The hospital said the award is a big honor because it shows the important work they do in helping patients with the healing process.
"It just kind of takes their mind off of that for a brief time and they can focus on something that makes them happy which really helps them in the healing process," Heartland Auxiliary's Amy Wiedmaier said.
Auxiliary members performed more than 36,000 hours of service between June of 2012 and May of 2013.
