Highway Patrol: 8 Fatalities in Missouri During Holiday Travel Period

The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to 299 traffic crashes during the holiday counting period. Eight people died in crashes in the state and 140 were injured.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The holiday weekend was a busy one for state troopers in Missouri, but they saw fewer accidents compared to last year.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to 299 traffic crashes during the holiday counting period. Eight people died in crashes in the state and 140 were injured.

Troopers also arrested 139 for driving while intoxicated.

In 2012, troopers investigated 350 crashes. The number of fatalities this year is up slightly over the six deaths in 2012 during the holiday weekend.

The Thanksgiving counting period started the evening of Nov. 27 and ran through Sunday, Dec. 1.
