Highway Patrol Identifies Suspect Killed in Officer Involved Shooting

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the victim of an officer-involved shooting last night in Amazonia.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting last night in Amazonia.

The suspect is identified as Eric C. Auxier, 28, of Gower.

The patrol says the incident began as a police chase in St. Joseph. A Buchanan County Deputy fatally shot Auxier, who was the driver of the vehicle being pursued, after he rammed the deputy's vehicle. Another deputy inside the car was injured.

That deputy was treated and released from Heartland last night.

The highway patrol is continuing to investigate the shooting as requested by the Andrew County Sheriff's Department.

Buchanan County Sheriff Mike Strong said the deputy that shot Auxier has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
