Highway Patrol Urges Caution on Slick Roads

The patrol reported eight fatalities in a 24-hour period due to snow and ice covered roads.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to use caution while traveling this weekend.

According to the patrol, eight fatalities accidents occurred in a 24-hour period due to snow and ice covered roads.

Troopers suggest checking the weather before traveling and adjusting plains if winter weather has an impact on travel routes.

The highway patrol also says to never use cruise control unless roads are dry and use appropriate speed based on road conditions.

The highway patrol offers a road condition map through its website: mshp.dps.mo.gov, and also suggests using MoDOT'S travel information map at modot.com.
