Hughes Healthy, but Questionable

<br>Hamilton running back suffers no serious injuries after stretcher takes him off field

Hamilton, MO--Hamilton's stud running back Derek Hughes is questionable for Monday's sectional playoff game against Lawson. The news comes as relief in the big picture, but concerning for the football team, who travels to perinnial powerhouse Lawson for a Class 2 sectional playoff game.

The junior put a scare into the crowd and the team when he went down in Wednesday night's game and laid near-motionless for several minutes. The paramedics eventually carried him off-the-field on a stretcher and drove him to a nearby hospital. He was released later that night with minor neck injuries, but reports out of Hamilton indicate the injury is nothing permanent.

Hughes' injury sparked the Hornets to a 13-12 win over Hogan Prep. The junior is nearing 2,000 yards rushing for the season. Hamilton is undefeated (11-0) and the two-time defending state champions.
