Hundreds Gather to Honor Chillicothe Assistant Fire Chief

Hundreds of family, friends and fire service colleagues gathered to pay homage to a Chillicothe hero.
(CHILLICOTHE, Mo.) The Lindley Funeral Home was surrounded by 13 American Flags in honor of Chillicothe's Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe C. Darr.

He died last Wednesday at a Kansas City area hospital, from a duty related injury.

Chief Darr served the community for 34 years and was truly dedicated to his services.

"He's loved by the community, by many people. He's mentored numerous firefighters and emergency medical technicians and paramedics through his career, and he means a lot to a lot of folks. We're wanting to make sure we give the respect and honor to man that deserves it," said Corey Sloan.

The funeral is Monday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church.
