Komen Grant Funding Available for Mammograms at Heartland

The hospital received the grant money earlier this year, which helps women get mammograms even if they cannot afford the service on their own.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) If you need a mammogram, don't let finances stop you.

Heartland Regional Medical Center still has some money leftover from a Susan G. Komen foundation grant.

The hospital received the grant money earlier this year, which helps women get mammograms even if they cannot afford the service on their own.

It's as simple as scheduling a mammogram appointment, Heartland will let you know if you qualify.

They say it's an important step in detecting breast cancer early.

"If you find it on a mammogram, more than likely it's something that can be dealt with. Anymore breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, and the earlier stage that you diagnose breast cancer the more chance of cure," said Breast Cancer Nurse Kristen Thatcher.

The grant money provided resources for the entire year, so Heartland expects to have funding available for those anyone in need of help.
