Kurth Signs Letter of Intent to Play at Northwest

Lafayette senior Xavier Kurth made his future as a Bearcat official on Friday morning.
(ST. JOSEPH) Lafayette senior Xavier Kurth signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Northwest Missouri State at an assembly at Lafayette High School Friday morning.

The Fighting Irish guard made his decision to attend Northwest earlier this fall after drawing interest from Division I programs and getting offers from Division II schools, including Drury, Truman State, and Missouri Western.

Kurth cited the mentoring of Lafayette alum and Northwest senior Bryston Williams as a big factor in his decision. Williams joined the Bearcats in 2009.

"Bryston's created a pipeline between Lafayette and Northwest," Irish head coach Chris Neff said.

Kurth solidified his status as one of St. Joseph's top players a season ago, helping the Irish to a 24-4 record and the Class 4, District 16 championship.
