LaVerna June Klamert, 88, St. Joseph, MO., passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

June was born in St. Louis County, Mo., on September 29, 1924, to the late Lewis and Grace (Lowry) Hizer. She was a graduate of Hancock High School in Lemay, Mo. She moved to St. Joseph in 1970. June was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and was an active parish member and the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles Lodge. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, taking care of her roses, and traveling to see her grandchildren. She previously worked for Emerson Electric before becoming a homemaker and raising her eleven children.

She married Kenneth A. Klamert on May 7, 1944. He passed away on July 20, 2003. June was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Brosch and siblings Herbert Hizer, Alfred Hizer, Betty Meyer, Melba Van Dam and Eileen Lutton.

She is survived by ten children, Linda Rodewald (Anthony Mabry) Sedalia, Mo., Betty Stone, St. Joseph, Mo., Robert Klamert, Cedar Park, Texas, William Klamert (Tracy), St. Joseph, Mo., Mary Rauth (Michael), St. Joseph, Mo., James Klamert, Junction City, Kan., Carol Kozak (Christopher) Springdale, Ark., Kenneth Klamert (Abigail) Manchoca, Texas, Janet Wiedmaier (Michael), Maysville, Mo. and John Klamert, Amazonia, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Moss, San Diego, Cal., Lewis Hizer and Evelyn Matt, of St. Louis, MO.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12:00 p.m. Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
