Local Firefighters Display American Flags on 9/11

Firefighters in St. Joseph paid special tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Firefighters in St. Joseph paid special tribute Wednesday to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Station 12 on St. Joseph Avenue raised a large American flag on one of their fire trucks in front of the station.

For them, it's a time to reflect, since many firefighters lost their lives in the line of duty.

Local firefighters say the community has been very supportive.

"People are driving by, they're honking, giving us the peace sign, stopping and taking pictures, telling us good job. The kids from Lindbergh drew us a bunch of pictures and that's very cool," said firefighter, Chuck Beaty.

This is the first year station 12 displayed the flag in front of the station, but the firefighters say it's something they'll continue to do every year from now on.
