Maryville Water, Sewer Rates Going Up

The Maryville City Council passed an ordinance earlier this week that will raise water and sewer rates.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) The Maryville City Council passed an ordinance earlier this week that will raise water and sewer rates.

The ordinance was passed to help offset additional debt for construction f a new sewer treatment plant an to pay for upgrades to the current system.

In April of 2012, voters approved a $13.75 million bond issue to build a government-mandated waste-water treatment plant. The city's lagoon-based system no longer meets state and federal standards for removal of ammonia.
