MO Attorney General Will Not Seek New Trial Against Ryan Ferguson

Ferguson was convicted in 2005 of killing Columbia Tribune Sports Editor Kent Heitholt
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) A Missouri man who spent the last ten years in prison for a crime he says he didn't commit will soon be set free.

The Missouri Attorney General said his office will not retry Ryan Ferguson.

Ferguson was convicted in 2005 of killing Columbia Tribune Sports Editor Kent Heitholt but since then two key witnesses at his trial have admitted they lied.

An appeals court overturned his conviction last week.

The court ruled that evidence was withheld during his trial.

It's not yet known when Ferguson could be released from prison.
