MoDOT Issues No Travel Advisory

The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a "no travel advisory" for the duration of this latest storm.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a "no travel advisory" for the duration of this latest storm.

MoDOT is advising drivers to stay home and avoid travel through Sunday night.

“For your safety and the safety of our crews, we ask everyone to avoid travel once this storm begins, unless it is an emergency,” said Ed Hassinger, MoDOT Chief Engineer. “Strong winds are blowing the snow around, and it’s creating a whiteout effect that makes it very difficult to see and makes travel extremely hazardous.”

Snow, combined with strong winds has limited visibility and is causing snow drifts that can make travel, even in four-wheel drive vehicles, very challenging.

If driving is necessary, MoDOT suggest being sure vehicles are equipped with an emergency kit and notify friends or family of travel plans.

As always, motorists can use MoDOT'S Traveler Information Map to plan ahead. Traveler's can also call MoDOT AT 1-888-ASK-MODOT for road conditions.
