Mules' New Attitude

Lathrop football looks to turn over a new leaf in 2011.
The 2010 football season wasn't kind to Lathrop. The Mules posted their third straight losing campaign dropping all ten games.

The Mules believe they can turn the program around in 2011 despite changing coaches in the off-season.

Lathrop's new head coach, Mike Thompson, is looking to rising seniors to set the tone on and off the field.

"I want to go .500, at least," senior quarterback Collin Haahr said.

Haahr, one of three 2010 All-KCI Conference selections for the black and gold last year, is setting the bar high for a team that has only won two games in three seasons, but that's the attitude Thompson wants his team to have.

"I think probably our biggest strength is the desire to be successful," Thompson said. "Right now these kids are hungry, they really want to win and they want to turn the corner."

One of the biggest challenges Thompson says the Mules will face once they step on the field, is how well they deal with adversity.

"Bad things are going to happen every game, you have to be able to over come that," Thompson said. "I think in the past they've struggled a little bit and that's probably going to be something we are challenged with this year. Let the bad stuff go and focus on the positive."
