Nixon Names Agriculture Director in Rushville Ceremony

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon appointed Richard Fordyce as director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture at a news conference in Rushville on Thursday.
(Rushville, Mo.) Missouri Governor Jay Nixon appointed Richard Fordyce as director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture at a news conference in Rushville on Thursday.

Fordyce is a fourth generation farmer from Harrison County. He held leadership positions with the Harrison County Farm Bureau for nearly twenty years.

"It's always been important to me to be greatly involved in agriculture organizations that support farmers and agriculture," Fordyce said.

"Richard Fordyce is a proven leader in Missouri agriculture and he has been a national leader as well," Nixon said.

Fordyce is taking over for Harry Bozoian.

Agriculture is a 12 billion dollar business for Missouri.
