Northwest Tennis Picks Up MIAA Awards Heading into Regionals

Northwest's Mark Rosewell is named MIAA Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.

(MARYVILLE, Mo.) In 29 years at Northwest Missouri State, Mark Rosewell has become synonymous with MIAA Championships.

The Bearcat coach has won 21 MIAA Men's Tennis Championships, including one Sunday in Springfield.

Now Rosewell can add another coach of the year honor to his resume.

He was selected as the MIAA's Coach of the Year for the third consecutive time on Thursday.

The Northwest men's tennis team also placed nine players on the all-conference team, and Sergio De Vilchez was named MIAA Freshmen of the Year. Guilherme Narducci received the Sportsmanship Award.

The all-conference first team includes Alvaro Riveros and Narducci, who each finished the season with 18 wins. De Vilchez and Lluis Altimires were tabbed as the first team doubles after posting a 24-5 record.

Northwest opens up regional play against Washburn on Saturday at 10am in Maryville.
