NWMSU Partners with Red Cross To Enhance Emergency Response

NWMSU partnered with Red Cross to enhance its emergency response.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.)  Northwest Missouri State University has partnered with the American Red Cross to enhance its emergency response.

The university signed a two-year agreement with the Midland Empire Chapter.

Campus facilities will be available to the community in case of any disasters. The Rec Center and Bearcat Arena are two possible options for shelters.

University officials hope the partnership inspires other colleges to do the same.

"I know a lot of places have verbal agreements, but this is one step further; that you're formalizing your agreement. You're formalizing your relationship. And I think, hopefully that sets a precedence across the state," said Lt. Mike Ceperley.

This is one of many actions Northwest has taken to focus on emergency preparedness.
