Outdoor Experts Offer Safety Tips for Hunters

The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding hunters to be safe as rifle season starts on Saturday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding hunters to be safe as rifle season begins on Saturday.

The Department is reminding hunters to wear their orange at all times. This includes bystanders that may be in an area close to hunters.

Hunters are also reminded to keep their muzzle pointed in a safe direction and be sure they know what they are shooting.

Rangers will be out enforcing the law throughout the deer season.

"They may ask to see your license and your tag and that kind of thing," Outreach and Education Supervisor T.J. Preacher said. "Just cooperate with them. They're just doing their job."

The department will also be out doing research on deer.
