Parkway Accident Injures 2 in St. Joseph

Speed may be a factor in a collision that injured two people in St. Joseph Tuesday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Speed may be a factor in a collision that injured two people in St. Joseph Tuesday.

Officer Scott Gary, with the St. Joseph Police Department, said Alec Hart, 24, of St. Joseph was headed east on the Parkway in his Pontiac when he lost control, went off the road and hit the bridge columns near 22nd Street.

Gary said it appeared the car was moving at a high rate of speed when it happened.

The car kept going and eventually slammed into another car on the Parkway driven by Shannon Reece, 37, of St. Joseph.

"As the Lincoln was coming around the curve, he was in her lane still coming at her and they collided," said Gary.

Hart was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He is listed in fair condition. Reece went to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Hart was ticketed for driving too fast for the conditions and for not having current proof of insurance.
