(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A recent rash of automobile thefts could be winding down.

The St. Joseph Police Department arrested two men Monday night suspected of stealing cars in at least two counties.

Cmdr. Jim Connors said patrol officers spotted a stolen car Monday at a home in the 600 block of Warsaw where one of the suspect's had been living.

Upon further investigation, Connors said that suspect and another man were taken into custody.

Police believe the two men are responsible for stealing at least five cars as well as stealing items from other cars.

"The auto thefts have been linked to Clinton County and possibly Platte County," said Cmdr. Connors.

Police say charges are expected in the case as the investigation continues.
