Police Identify Fugitive in Tuesday Search, School Lockdown

Police say Matthew S. Carpenter is in custody after he led officers on a search Tuesday that resulted in the lockdown of a nearby elementary school.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph police have released the identity of a man who led officers on a search that resulted in Coleman Elementary school being locked down Tuesday.

Police say bondsmen were serving a warrant on Matthew S. Carpenter, 24, when Carpenter fled into a wooded area near between the school and North 36th Street.

Carpenter is now in  custody on a warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.
