Police Investigate Series of Incidents at Broadmoor Apartments

The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating a break-in and shooting that happened Christmas morning at Broadmoor Apartments.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Police are investigating a series of incidents that happened at Broadmoor Apartments early Christmas morning.

The St. Joseph Police Department received multiple calls about a break in and a shooting at Building-F of Broadmoor Apartments.

Around 1 a.m., a woman reported,  a man tried to kick down her apartment door while she was home, but failed because of the lock on the door.

The suspect then ran off.

The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a white hat, white coat and jeans.

Nearly two hours later, the same woman said she heard gun shots outside of her building.

Officers responded, but didn't find anything at the scene.

About an hour later, at the same apartment building, a family said they came home and saw their apartment was broken into. Some items were taken.

A few minutes after that, police said that same family reported gun shots were fired into their apartment through the front door.

"We don't know if they're connected or not. It's maybe just a strange coincidence that they both happened within close proximity of each other. We just don't know yet. So, any information would be very much appreciated at this point," said Cdr. Janice Rothganger of the St. Joseph Police Department.

No one was injured in either incident.

Police urge anyone with information to call them at 816-238-TIPS.
