Public Service Commission Approves Laclede Purchase of MGE

The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement that will allow Laclede Gas Company to purchase the natural gas operations of Missouri Gas Energy.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement that will allow Laclede Gas Company to purchase the natural gas operations of Missouri Gas Energy.

Laclede intends to operate two divisions in Missouri, the MGE division and the Laclede division.

The two companies are the largest under the jurisdiction of the Missouri Public Service Commission. Combined, MGE and Laclede serve more than 1.1 million natural gas customers in the state.

Under the agreement, Laclede will not be allowed to file a general rate case for its Laclede service territory before Oct. 1, 2015.

Laclede has until Sept. 18, 2013 to file a general rate case for the MGE division. If it has not filed the rate case by that date, another cannot be filed until Oct. 1, 2015.
