Rep. Delus Johnson, a republican from St. Joseph, is one of four Missouri House members chosen to serve in this capacity.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to play a much greater role in the legislative process," said Johnson in a news release. "This position offers me a great opportunity to better represent the interests of the 9th district. I look forward to working to help ensure the passage of legislation that will be of great benefit to the people in our area as well as the entire state of Missouri."
Johnson said he will work to gather votes on critical issues, communicate policy positions to other House members and make sure the parliamentary rules are followed in his new role.
Johnson said the appointment gives this region a greater voice in House Leadership decisions for the 2014 legislative session.
