(PLATTE COUNTY, Mo.) A registered sex offender is headed back to jail after a Platte County jury found him guilty of abusing a teenager over a period of three years.

Jason D. Wright, 40, faces life in prison for sexually abusing a girl almost every day when she came home from school. The abuse started when the victim was 13 and lasted until she was 16.

The victim told investigators Wright often put a blanket or pillow over her head during the assaults, which sometimes lasted up to 45 minutes.

Wright told the victim not to tell because no one would believe her.

"He was proven wrong by the deputies who investigated this case, the prosecutors who tried it, and the twelve good men and women of the jury who gave the victim justice," said Eric Zahnd, Platte County prosecuting attorney.

Wrigth was convicted of statutory sodomy in Clay County in 1999.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 24 for the latest counts of statutory sodomy. He is being held on a $350,000 bond.
