Sights and Sounds of Christmas Light Up Downtown Atchison

Despite the cold weather, Atchison residents still enjoyed the third annual 'Sights and Sounds of Christmas.'
(ATCHISON, Ks.) The weather outside may be frightful, but that didn't stop Atchison residents from enjoying different sights and sounds of Christmas Saturday night.

The town was lit from block to block for the third annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas parade.

The parade of lights featured more than 30 groups and organizations, and lots of familiar faces like Ronald McDonald.

This year's Grand Marshal said it was an honor to lead the parade and represent the community.

"This year, this is, uh, a dream come true," said Cindy Hoverson.

"Oh, it's just an honor to have fun with the Sounds and Lights of Christmas for Atchison. Just a great time to be here with the kids and act like a kid again. That's what it's all about. Just have fun," said Mark Mikkelson.

Sights and Sounds of Christmas also featured a dozen different activities for families.

The event was hosted by Atchison's Chamber of Commerce.
