(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Kansas City Chiefs have invited St. Joseph Christian alum Adam Nelson to their rookie minicamp running May 10-12.
Nelson was a member of the Lions' 2006 8-Man Football State Championship team as a wide receiver and defensive end. He also earned all-region honors in basketball and all-state in track & field.
He attended Villonava to play baseball after graduation, but fell into a role as a long snapper for the football team his junior year. He handled those duties throughout the past three seasons.
Nelson says he received the call from the Chiefs Monday morning. He also worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles before getting the call to Kansas City.
"It's a little bit crazy, especially just going out for baseball and then picking up football along the way," he added. "In all honesty, all I do is throw a ball between my legs. It's funny where I've ended up with it."
