(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A local St. Joseph family had such a big Thanksgiving gathering this year, they had to rent a dining hall.

The Peters family expected between 75 and 80 family members to join them for Thanksgiving dinner this year.

"There's like nine brothers and sisters on one side of the family," Craig Peters said.

This year the Peters' gathering was so large, they rented out Spanky and Buckwheat's catering and dining hall.

Craig owns the business and just remodeled it.

"Makes it kind of nice. Get everyone together," he said.

Craig smoked the meats, while everybody else brought a side.

"We have au gratin potatoes, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes," daughter Meri Kay Wootton said.

Austin Ortega, a child in the family, summed up why he loved the holiday best.

"Get to be with my family," he said.

All 75 of them.
