St. Joseph Man Charged in String of Daytime Burglaries

A St. Joseph man has been charged in a string of daytime burglaries in St. Joseph.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph man has been charged in a string of daytime burglaries in St. Joseph.

Lejean J. Knighten, 29, has been charged with first degree burglary, second degree robbery and misdemeanor receiving stolen property.

Capt. Jeff Wilson with the St. Joseph Police Department said the investigation is still ongoing and that the department placed a sense of urgency on this investigation. According to police, several of the robbery victims encountered Knighten during the robberies. No one was seriously injured, but police say the potential for a violent confrontation was a concern.

Knighten was arrested on Dec. 4 and also had an active state warrant for forgery. Police say Knighten's arrest has cleared four cases.

Bond was set at $5,000. Knighten is due in court on Dec. 10.
